MarshyHope Labradors, Reg. has bred quality English Labradors since 1999!  We have accomplished and well-loved dogs all over the world!  We only breed a few litters of puppies each year, always with the intention of keeping at least one puppy to carry on and continuously improve the program. The girls tend to cycle at the same time (like a sorority house!), so it is common that we will have multiple litters close together and then no puppies for many months.  That’s Mother Nature’s decision – not mine!  From the day a girl starts her heat cycle, it takes about 5 months before puppies are potentially ready for new homes . . . assuming all goes as planned.

The process and our puppy protocol:

I hope that you will appreciate the description of how our puppies are raised and how new homes are chosen for them.  It may be different than how other breeders approach puppy placement, but my experience and philosophies have proven successful with a long list of very happy MarshyHope families!

Socialization is a top priority.  As a trainer and CGC evaluator, raising puppies to be confident, friendly, intelligent and relaxed family members is paramount.  They are raised as a part of our family, as well as a part of our pack.  They make age-appropriate transitions every week and are usually using a doggy door for poop business by the time they are 5 weeks old!  It’s amazing what they can accomplish when given the educational opportunity.

Once we have confirmed a pregnancy via sonogram (about ½ way through gestation), an announcement will be posted on our Facebook page and I will start sending out & accepting applications of interest if you email me a request for information.  I do not keep a waiting list or transfer/hold applications to a future litter.

After puppies arrive and Momma and babies are settled in, I will start reaching out by email to families that have submitted an application of interest.  If it seems that we may be a good fit for each other, we will schedule a phone interview.  If we both decide to move forward after a good chat, I will then accept a non-refundable deposit.  The deposit will reserve a puppy of a particular sex and color, but not a specific puppy.  Puppies are chosen by me for each family based on the puppy’s personality and various other factors – much of which revolves around the family’s dynamic, lifestyle, experience and expectations. The order in which you give a deposit is irrelevant to me in deciding which puppy is the best match for you and those decisions will not be made until the puppies are around 7 weeks of age.  Matching puppies with families is a team effort and I take it very seriously.  It is in everyone’s best interest to make sure you have the right puppy for the long term, not just for today.  Of course, in the unfortunate case that we are unable to provide you with the sex and color of the pup you reserved, your deposit will be refunded in full.

Once your deposit is processed, a puppy welcome package will be mailed out to each family.  It will include tons of great information that I have compiled over the years to help you get ready for your new baby.  I also include my favorite training book (“The Puppy Primer” by Patricia B. McConnell) and a deposit receipt outlining our agreement.

Our puppies are ONLY sold on AKC limited registration (they will not be used for breeding), receive their first vaccine around 7 weeks of age, are micro-chipped, wormed, and vet checked before they leave us.  You will receive a detailed record to transfer to your veterinarian when you take your puppy home.

I will post tons of pictures and videos of the babies as the weeks fly by, so it will be easy to watch their antics, personalities, and growth.  It’s so fun!!!

I do not ship unattended puppies for any reason or any amount of money.  If you would like to fly in and take your puppy home as a cabin passenger, we are located approximately 2.5 hours from the Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington DC airports.  We will do our absolute best to help you plan your travels.
